Today's top lines

  • Michigan Democrat crosses over. Rep. Haley Stevens, who lost the Democratic Senate primary to Abdul El-Sayed, endorsed Republican Mike Rogers and joined him on the trail, a day after being told to stay away from El-Sayed's events, Fox News, Townhall and NPR reported.
  • Trump's closing pitch tonight. President Trump is set to end his midterm tour with an election-eve address at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool in Washington, after weekend rallies in Iowa and Kansas.
  • Final NYT/Siena polls favor Democrats. As listed by RealClearPolling, New York Times/Siena surveys ending this weekend show Democrats ahead in Maine (Jackson 51%, Collins 45%), Ohio (Brown 49%, Husted 44%), Texas (Talarico 50%, Paxton 43%) and Alaska (Peltola 48%, Sullivan 46%).
  • Texas still close in other surveys. Trafalgar Group has Talarico and Paxton tied at 48%, while Atlas Intel shows Talarico up 52% to 46%. More than 7.5 million Texans voted early, matching the 2018 pace, The Texas Tribune reported.
  • Wider Democratic margins in New England and North Carolina. A UNH poll shows Rep. Chris Pappas leading John Sununu 54% to 42% in New Hampshire; in North Carolina, East Carolina University and YouGov polls show Roy Cooper ahead of Michael Whatley by 9 and 11 points.
