The Cyprus Museum houses an extensive collection of artifacts spanning the island’s ancient Greek, Roman, and Byzantine history. Laiki Geitonia, a restored traditional neighborhood, offers narrow lanes with cafes and craft shops within the walled old city. On the northern side, the Selimiye Mosque, a former Gothic cathedral converted after Ottoman conquest, reflects the layered religious history of the divided city. Nicosia’s unique political geography makes it one of the most historically complex capitals in Europe.
