Monaco-Ville
Monaco-Ville, the principality’s old town, sits atop a rocky promontory known as the Rock, home to the Prince’s Palace, where the changing of the guard ceremony takes place daily at 11:55am. The Oceanographic Museum, founded by Prince Albert I, houses an aquarium built directly into the cliffside above the sea.

Saint Nicholas Cathedral, where Grace Kelly and Prince Rainier III are buried, sits just steps from the palace within the old town’s narrow streets. The Rock’s ramparts offer sweeping views over the harbor and the Mediterranean beyond. Monaco-Ville’s compact, pedestrian streets contrast sharply with the high-rise glamour visible just below. It remains the historic and ceremonial heart of one of the world’s smallest sovereign states.
