Pei on its own peninsula, holds one of the finest collections of Islamic art in the world. Souq Waqif, rebuilt in traditional style, offers spice stalls, falconry shops, and restaurants housed in low, mudbrick-style buildings that recall Doha’s pre-oil past. The Katara Cultural Village hosts galleries, an amphitheater, and a mosque built in Andalusian style along the waterfront. The Pearl-Qatar, an artificial island of marinas and boutiques, reflects the city’s rapid modern development. Doha’s blend of traditional souks and striking contemporary architecture has made it one of the Gulf’s most dynamic cities.
