The narrow stone lanes of the Muslim, Christian, Jewish, and Armenian Quarters each carry their own markets, bakeries, and courtyards worth getting lost in. The Mahane Yehuda Market outside the walls buzzes with spice stalls and bars well into the night. The Israel Museum houses the Dead Sea Scrolls in its Shrine of the Book, a striking modern structure that complements the ancient city nearby.
