Riga

Riga is considered one of the biggest and largest cities in Latvia. It is also the nation’s seat of government. It is the biggest city among the cities of the Baltic States. One-third of Latvia’s population lives in this city. Riga is occupied an area of around 307.17 square km and situated on the Gulf of Riga. The city was founded in 1201, and its historical center has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The city was declared as the European Capital of Culture in 2014. Some important and international events like the Eurovision Song Contest 2003 and 2006 NATO Summit hosted in Riga.

Daugavpils

On the banks of the Daugava River, Daugavpils is located on it. This best city in Latvia is a southeastern Latvian city. It is also considered in the second biggest city in Latvia. The city shares borders with Lithuania and Belarus. Only 120 km away from this city is the Russian border. Daugavpils enhances its importance in Latvia. Liepāja

Jelgava

If you move ahead 41 km southwest of Riga, Jelgava is located there. You will find Jelgava in central Latvia. At an elevation of only 3.5 meters above sea level, the city is located in a fertile belt of the country just on the river Lielupe’s right bank.
