Admit it! With all these new launches in beauty products that take place so often, there have been times when you get confused too. First, you want to buy them all and try them all on your skin. And secondly, you get to the point where you wonder if everything you end up using in your beauty routine is so essential to your skin. Especially this last thought has plagued you regarding your moisturizer.
Why? Because you find in many products labels the indication "day cream" or "night cream" and you do not understand why you should have two different moisturizers: one for the morning and one for the evening.
Are they really necessary? Or are they circulating purely to make you spend more money? I will explain everything to you. Let's take things from the beginning.
A moisturizer is necessary for every beauty routine, to maintain the moisture in the skin and not to have dry skin, nor chances of developing inflammations. In general, creams for morning use contain antioxidants, which protect the skin from environmental "attacks", and SPF for protection from UVA and UVB rays of the sun. Evening creams, on the other hand, usually contain acids, retinol, or collagen, ingredients that stimulate the process of cell regeneration and skin regeneration at night. At first glance, you logically believe that both morning and evening face cream are necessary. But is that the case?
What do you think?
We have all done it at some point out of ignorance, laziness, or haste, while for many it has become a routine. Could we get rid of bad habits?
Cracking marks, dry skin, dandruff, oily secretion, somewhat distressed appearance. What has gone wrong with your hair and you suddenly feel that it has lost its healthy look?
Basically, nothing happened "so suddenly". It is these bad habits that you have adopted in the way you bathe, dry, and comb your hair every day - out of ignorance, laziness, or haste - and you destroy them little by little without realizing it. I have learned the hard way from my mistakes, to correct them, and to restore the lost glow and health in my head.
So from my personal experience, here are 6 common bad habits that destroy hair without realizing it:
???? Bathing almost every day
Frequent, even daily bathing is one of the bad male habits. The majority do it to remove the styling product. This is partially right. On the other hand, when you bathe (almost) every day you disturb the pH of the scalp. This results in dryness and therefore the formation of white dandruff flakes. There are two solutions: The first concerns the use of a shampoo that is suitable for daily shampooing and the second, rinsing the hair well only with water to avoid bathing every day.
????Your movements in the bath are hurried
Clumsy, almost violent. By rubbing the scalp quickly and effortlessly, you not only break the hairs but in case your hair is oily, you contribute to the excessive secretion of sebum. No, this is definitely not the right way to bathe. You should do a light massage on the scalp, just like you are bathed in the hair salon.
⚠️You use shampoo 2 in 1 (with conditioner)
To understand why this mistake is serious, it is enough to explain the following: With the shampoo, you open the hair follicles to deeply cleanse and rejuvenate the hair. With the emollient cream, the pockets close to locking the much-needed hydration. Two diametrically opposed actions that the truth is that they certainly can not offer the best-desired result. So make sure you use two separate products: After shampooing your hair, apply conditioner to the ends.
⚠️Rinse with hot or cold water
There is a myth that cold water makes hair look shinier and healthier. Wrong. In bathing, we must use lukewarm water to open the pores of the skin. This is the only way to achieve proper cleaning. On the other hand, by pouring hot water on the hair, the only thing you can do is dehydrate it, especially if it is dry.
⚠️You rub the hair with the towel to dry
This results in weakening and breaking the hairs. Your movements should be gentle.
⚠️You exaggerate with styling products
Either by applying many different products to the hair, or by using formulas that contain parabens, chemicals, alcohol, and other harmful substances for the skin. The first step is to invest in as many natural styling products as possible. The second step is to use a product that is suitable for the use you want and apply a small amount. Believe me, it is enough to keep the hair in place.
My name is Gloria and I’ve been in the beauty industry for over 40 years. Looking forward to making friends that share the same interest.
There are many women who want to get full and voluminous lips, however, without going through the surgical procedure or using injectable products. There are several alternatives to achieving your goal in a very natural way. Check out four of them below and get inspired on what you can do.
Exfoliation with sugar and honey, the secret to extra volume on the lips in a natural way.
Mix a tablespoon of sugar with a teaspoon of honey or coconut oil. Gently rub the mixture on your lips for 2-3 minutes and rinse with water. Granulated white sugar will be more exfoliating, while brown sugar will be softer and suitable for sensitive skin. This procedure will help remove dead skin that accumulates over time, stimulating circulation to the lips.
Brushing with a toothbrush
After you finish brushing your teeth, rub the brush on your lips lightly in small circular motions to improve blood flow. This will make your lips look thicker and fuller. Do not combine this step, however, with the above technique, as it may injure your lips.
Moisturize with a lip balm
Keeping your lips hydrated is a great way to improve their natural shape, making them look thicker than dry. Always have a lip moisturizer on you and apply a generous amount every time you feel dry. Also, do not forget to moisturize your lips with a lip balm every time you finish exfoliating. For best results, use an unscented lip balm. If it is scented, you may feel the need to lick your lips more often, which will lead to chapped lips more quickly.
Drink plenty of water
A great way to add volume to your lips is to drink at least 8-12 glasses of water a day, with each glass holding about 240 ml of water. Better health will help you have more natural glow, even on your lips. In combination, you can take a complex of vitamins, after consulting your doctor first.
What are its benefits and how to apply it
Some skincare terminology sparks interest as soon as you hear them. As with the new trend in the field of beauty called "hydration sandwich". It's nothing more than blocking moisture on your skin and layering the products you use to properly hydrate it. Although it is a relatively new approach to skincare it has many benefits and it is worth trying.
What is a "hydration sandwich"❓
The term refers to the various layers of your skincare products to reduce water loss and lock in moisture to the skin barrier. By putting lighter, more hydrated products on moist skin and then applying something thicker each time on top, the water is trapped for a longer period of time, achieving excellent hydration for a longer period of time.
????If you want to try this technique on your face, you must first clean it well, rinse it with plenty of water and leave it slightly damp, then apply the moisturizer of your choice and the face oil or balm - especially if the Your skin is dry.
????If you want to keep your lips thick and hydrated, you should wet your mouth with water, apply a regular moisturizer and finish their treatment by applying a fairly thick lip balm. The water will facilitate the hydration to penetrate your lips and the balm will ensure that the products will not evaporate.
This technique makes your skin look more radiant and even while allowing the active ingredients of the products you use to penetrate deeper into your skin.
I am looking for more natural ways to take care of my skin now that I am getting older. I have seen trends online of women using egg whites as a mask. They claim it helps with anti-aging properties, reduces fine lines, helps control acne, and gives skin a radiant glow. Is this something that actually works? Has anyone here ever tried it?
I noticed as I am getting older, the partline on my scalp is getting wider. I don't overwash my hair and only use paraben-free hair products. I do style my hair but not daily, maybe every other day at most. I wash my hair every 3 or 4 days. Are there any ways to reverse the thinning and grow back the fullness I had on my scalp? What can cause thinning at such a young age? I only just turned 30.
I get ingrown hairs on my inner thighs and bikini line. This is likely from shaving those areas but I noticed if I do keep my skin moister, they happen less. I have been using oil after shaving and it has helped but I still get some and they can be pretty painful! Is there a simple/cheat remedy for something like this?
As I am getting older, I want to focus on using fewer chemicals on my face to prevent my skin from premature aging. I am looking for a new brand of make-up that is natural-based and paraben-free. I don't want to spend a lot. I would prefer it to be something I can easily get at the store as well. Any suggestions?
The serum I loved and used for years was discontinued a few years ago and I have struggled to find one I like. The ones that seem to feel best and give results will cause me to have adult acne breakouts. I think this might be the topical vitamin C in the products but I am not sure. I am looking for something that is $20 or less and provides good moisture as I do like to use mineral powder foundations.
Do you have any recommendations or suggestions?
First time trying this brand. Love trying new things and need some new inspo for this color. I've been stuck in the same bronzy neutrals. Any inspo pics welcomed. ????????

There is nothing more chic than dark nails. The deep shades of burgundy, purple, green, brown and black (of course) exude unpretentious elegance and are the hottest for this winter.
It's not only me saying this but also the designers with their Fall / Winter 2021 collections. I saw the deep & dark nails in the beauty looks of Etro, Prabal Gurung and Anna Sui (following all their social accounts) that reminded me of the timeless value of dark shades. The dark shades - inextricably linked to the winter weather - will match perfectly with strict black or beige suits and maxi coats, with polka dot dresses and oversized knits.
They exude a dark romance and it is definitely a manicure that even if it was not a trend this winter remains timeless. Deep & dark nails on short or longer nails with oval or square shape. No matter how you maintain the shape of your nails, these shades will never disappoint. For more inspiration, here are some ideas for your next date. Keep screenshots.
Deep & Dark nails on the catwalks!
At this point I got to admit, polished nails is my ritual! I love changing my nail color and the shape, regardless what fashion orders a current period! I'm a fashionista! I'm passionate about looking into latest trends and fashion blogs. I used to own one but no longer is updated.
In Belgium one of the most profitable job or side job you can have is nail technician. We have saloons here dedicated to nail treatment and you can guess women are crazy about it!
I would love to see some of your nails girls, post them! Also post what you think about dark nails? It is a classic polish, sometimes formal, sometimes connected to goth culture!
The most effective and economical treatment for youthful, relaxed skin is a quality 8-hour sleep. Between midnight and early in the morning, the healing and regenerating power of the skin peaks: Collagen production is enhanced and the damage suffered during the day is repaired. At the same time, the exfoliation and regeneration of cells intensifies. To further enhance the multiple benefits of sleep, you systematically follow an evening care routine that suits the needs of your skin. However, there is another method that you can introduce in your program which relaxes the facial muscles, improves the expression of wrinkles, and works as a natural facelift.
The method that fights expression wrinkles and offers a natural lifting effect on your skin ✨
????Facial aromatherapy
Once or twice a week we enrich the evening care routine with this technique which combines the benefits of essential oils with the benefits of massage on the face, neck, and décolleté.
For the process we can use:
???? detoxifying oils and nourishing oils
???? essential oils in combination with a base oil or cream
The application technique
1. After cleansing, apply the serum and then your night cream.
2. Wait a few minutes for it to be absorbed.
3. Warm in your palms for a few seconds with a few drops of selected oils. Some of the most effective for the purpose you want to achieve are the essential oils of lavender, evening primrose, rosemary, geranium, jasmine. Also, turmeric and sunflower oil deeply moisturize and detoxify cells.
4. Take a deep breath and rest your palms on your face.
5. Gently massage with circular, clockwise movements from the center of the face outwards.
6. Next, pass to the neck and with downward movements press the keys slightly. The movement will activate the lymph and stimulate the process of elimination of toxins from the body during the night.
Bonus: The method offers a feeling of deep relaxation by reducing stress levels, which leaves a strong imprint on your face. In addition, it improves the quality of sleep.
But how is it done properly?
The first step is to find your skin type. Then, we select the appropriate cleaner.
Emulsions: They have a creamy, rich texture, spread in circular motions and are removed with a cotton swab. However, the emulsion also leaves residues, which must be removed with a toning lotion or even with water. They are ideal for dry or sensitive skin.
Water-based cleansers: Apply directly to wet face. Here, too, care must be taken in rinsing so that no residue remains. There are suitable compositions for every skin type.
Cleansing water: They do not contain soap, alcohol and pigments, and are ideal for any skin, especially for sensitive skin. Pour a quantity on a make-up remover tray and pass it gently through the face and eyes, until the cotton is completely clean.
Cleaning wipes: It is a very practical solution, but not the best. They remove most of the makeup but do not clean thoroughly. We prefer them for after the gym or when we are very much made up and we want to quickly remove most of the make-up.
Tonic lotion: If we use a cleansing lotion, then we definitely need the toning lotion that completes the process: It deeply removes any traces of dirt and prepares the skin to breathe and better absorb the nutrients that we will offer afterwards. Caution: Avoid it if our skin is irritated.
First we do make-up removal, starting from the eyes, and then we clean the face. Otherwise, the makeup dyes become entangled with the pollutants and block the pores.
After finishing the make-up removal, rinse our face with lukewarm water and continue with the cleansing.
Tip: If we want to avoid this process, we choose a cleanser 3 in 1 (does make-up removal, cleanses and tones). Optionally, after the cleanser, apply a mask for deep cleansing.
The right eye makeup remover
Pour a few drops of lotion on a make-up remover tray. We choose a biphasic lotion based on oils.
Hold the disc on a closed eyelid for 20-30 seconds, in order for the mascara to soften and be removed relatively easily. Then gently press the disc on the eyelid.
Turn the tray on the clean side and repeat until all traces of makeup are completely removed.
Caution: We never rub the area, because that way we cause irritation and injuries.
A little bit of postponement of the haircut, a little bit of the use of heat tools, a little bit of the lack of hydration… They do not want much and the ends of the hair to "sigh".
Apart from the above, however, we are making a terrible mistake. Many of us think it is right but in the end it is not.
What is this? We bathe very often.
If you bathe every day, without knowing it, you help to create split ends in your hair.
When hair is wet it is more prone to breakage and wear, so the more you wash it the more sensitive it becomes.
Frequent shampooing also results in frizz, while removing the hair and the protective natural oils secreted by the scalp.
So when should you wash them?
Their use is simple. All you have to do is get some clean mascara brushes or cotton swabs and after dipping them in the oil you want, apply them gently on your lashes as a treatment, as you would with mascara, until they are absorbed. The next morning, wash your face, as usual, while you should not forget a) to repeat the procedure daily for at least 6-8 weeks, if you want to see a quick result and b) to do proper make-up removal and cleansing.
Olive oil
I do not have an answer to the question if there is something that olive oil can not do (even in the beauty world). Rich in essential fatty acids that act as emollients, moisturize and soften lashes, contributes to their healthy growth.
Coconut oil
Another natural ingredient that moisturizes and strengthens lashes. Coconut oil, when applied to the scalp, eyebrows, eyelashes, etc. can prevent hair loss and breakage. If you feel it is too thick to use, just heat it up to make it wet and spread it out with a clean brush.
Castor oil
It could not be missing from the list of all these natural ingredients that strengthen and strengthen the lashes. With a composition rich in omega-6 fatty acids, proteins, and other nutrients that contribute to healthy hair growth, castor oil simply works wonders. Just use it!
Beach Waves
If you want to avoid heat styling, spray your hair with a texturizing spray and let it dry naturally to achieve unpretentious elegant loose waves.
Sleek Bun
One of the biggest trends of the season is the sleek "Olaplex buns", which made the model off-duty looks popular. To copy this hairstyle, create a parting in the middle, apply a generous amount of gel and gather your hair back into a low chignon.
Braided Ponytail
One of the favorite hairstyles of Milanese at this time is the long ponytails-braids, which are ideal even for the second or third day after bathing, but also the hottest days of the season.
High Popnytail
If you are looking for an easy and flirty hairstyle, follow the example of the Milanese and create a tall ponytail. For a thoroughly sloppy result, enhance the texture of the hair by spraying a texturizing spray or a little dry shampoo.
Low Ponytail
From the list of the favorite low maintenance hairstyles of the Italians, the low ponytail, the hair styling staple of every fashionista could not be missing. To copy their look, split your hair in half and opt for a more messy instead of a sleeker result.
David Beckham, Adam Levine, Travis, Post Malone, Machine Gun Kelly and Justin Bieber are just some of the celebrities who are famous for their many tattoos and do not miss the opportunity to show them off with shirtless photos.
The popularity of tattoos has skyrocketed and ink lovers are claiming that when you start, you think enthusiastically about the next one.
The more tattoos you do, the more ordinary they look to you. You are now spending less time thinking about the deep meaning behind the design you choose and it may even be something without much personal significance.
There are of course those who treat them as art, seeking inspiration in the work of talented tattoo artists. Whichever category you belong to, the goal is to keep your tattoos as vivid as possible over time.
But tattoos change. They are subject to all the other changes that your body goes through (skin aging, weight gain, sun exposure). Commonly it's an investment you need to protect.
Their subsequent care is considered necessary
If you have a tattoo, you already know about the aftercare, the time it takes after you hit the design until the wound heals. "Most of the time it takes to get a tattoo is about two weeks, but it takes a month to heal 100%," Megan Massacre, tattoo artist and co-founder of the Grit N Glory Tattoo in New York, told Men's Health.
After this month - as long as there are no problems such as infection or scarring - you should turn your attention from treatment to protection.
The importance of sunscreen
"The color can oxidize over time through ultraviolet radiation," says dermatologist Dendy Engelman, M.D.
"Just as our skin changes color when exposed to ultraviolet radiation, ink particles can undergo changes related to sun exposure. "It's like paint on a building that can corrode over time."
Daily use of sunscreen will help minimize damage and mineral sunscreens containing zinc or titanium dioxide add extra shielding. They naturally block the rays creating a barrier at the top of the skin.
Sun protection is especially important for anyone who has many or large tattoos, because skin cancer is a real risk. "A tattoo is not going to put you at a higher risk for skin cancer, but it can hide the cancer beneath," says dermatologist Forum Patel, M.D.
"It's hard to say that something malignant develops where there is black pigment." So do not neglect the annual dermatological examination, asking the doctor to spend extra time to examine the areas of your body with tattoos.
"You have layers of skin on top of the tattoo ink," notes the tattoo artist. "If the skin is hard, thick, rough and dry, then it will affect the appearance of the tattoo."
The best way to keep your skin and tattoos fresh is to moisturize with special creams and balms. "Over time, it will improve the quality of the skin. "If you keep your skin healthy, your tattoo will look better," concludes Dendy Engelman, M.D.
Supplements help maintain color
Although you can not stop the natural loss of collagen, you have the ability to slow it down, just as you do on your face. A collagen supplement, approved by the World Drug Administration, helps maintain the color of your tattoo.
Beware of symptoms of an allergic reaction
You should also look at your tattoos for changes, even if you have them for several years. "When tattoos turn red or cause itching, it could be an allergic reaction," explains Forum Patel, M.D.
"I have seen people get tattoos for 10, 20, 30 years and they react to their immune system. It's called a delayed response. " Your body may react to the ink itself or you may have photosensitivity caused by light. (This is the second reminder to apply sunscreen.)
If you notice something that you think may be an allergic reaction, especially if it is just around a tattoo, you should see your dermatologist immediately. You may want to consider removing it, although new inks make tattoos look better over the years.
"The level of quality and technology in tattoo products has increased dramatically in the last 10 years," says Massacre. "Theoretically, you should not see the same di
It may sound oxymoronic, but by rubbing the surface of the skin daily, we help our tan to last, while making the skin smooth and radiant. So, 2-3 times a week we use a body scrub, while the rest of the days a hair glove or a lifeline sponge.
# 2 Lip gloss with SPF
The lip area is very thin, which is why it is extremely sensitive to the sun. A lip gloss or lipstick with an SPF of at least 15 is all that is needed to protect them from the sun and dryness and at the same time to make us always look well-groomed.
# 3 Hair help
Prolonged exposure to the sun weakens the keratin and opens the scales of the hair, as a result of which the moisture escapes and the hair becomes dry, wild and easily tangled. If we are not used to wearing a hat, then it is good to use a hair spray with UV filters.
# 4 The alternative
Are we running out of sunscreen? No problem. Before entering the sea or the pool, apply a little sunscreen on the face or body and comb to spread the product evenly. The composition will create a thin protective film around the hair, which will prevent dehydration and fading of the color. At the same time, however, it will also protect the scalp.
# 5 Intensify hydration
After the shower, apply a rich moisturizing product on clean skin and wrap with a warm, damp towel for 5΄. The heat will activate the ingredients of our moisturizer and will open the pores. After a while we will find that our skin has become smoother and softer than ever.
# 6 We strengthen the nails
How many times during our vacation has not a nail been broken? It does not happen by chance. The sun, chlorine, salt, but sometimes the careless diet, weaken the nails and dehydrate them. Therefore, we take a special product with vitamins, amino acids and lipids in our handbag and apply it on the nails and cuticles every night before going to bed.
We forget the razor that roughens the hair and we have to use it almost every day, and choose another way of hair removal. The hot candle. It is not a complicated procedure, and once we get used to it, it turns out to be an ideal method of hair removal, since in addition to being an economical solution, it offers smooth skin for several weeks. However, in hot waxing there are some rules that we must follow for a perfect, professional result, without irritation.
What we need to know
The ideal length of hair to be removed with the wax is around 0.5 - 1 cm. If it is longer, it may break and not come out of the root. If it is shorter, the candle may not catch it. If the hairs are longer, trim them with scissors. This will make hair removal more effective and painless.

How many days before the holidays should we do waxing?
Experts advise 2-3 days hours before traveling or before sun exposure. Thus any irritations will have been restored and the skin will have fully recovered its defenses.
The preparation
Before waxing, exfoliate. This way we will clean the pores from the sebum and we will avoid the spurs.
Wipe the area well to remove any traces of moisture so that the wax sticks well to the skin.
We check its temperature inside our wrist before using it. The right temperature should be pleasantly warm. If it is hot it will even cause us burns. If it is cold, the candle will not spread properly.
What are we doing
Spread the wax evenly on a vertical strip of skin, in the opposite direction of the hairs.
Of particular importance is the pulling of the candle (whether we use fabric or ribbons). Pull the tape in the opposite direction of the hair and parallel to the skin (as if turning a book page). We do not lift the tape upwards, ie perpendicular to the skin, because the hairs will be cut and will not come out of the root.
If we miss some, we remove them with an eyebrow tweezers.
After waxing
-Rinse the area with lukewarm water to remove wax residues.
Moisturize with a soothing composition that contains aloe or some oil with calendula or chamomile.
Better to avoid the hot candle, if…
* We have burns or minor injuries.
* We have varicose veins, varicose veins, varicose veins or any problem with blood circulation, because the heat may worsen the condition.
* We follow some medication that makes the skin more sensitive and therefore more prone to injuries.

What are the reasons why hair often gets oily?
Starting from the last stage, cleaning the hair, we rinse our hair. If it is not removed properly, the shampoo or conditioner from the hair may become oily immediately. It takes plenty of water and a good scalp massage to remove the specific products. In this way, we will understand if the hair has been properly rinsed.
From there, Styling products, with moisturizing oil, should be applied to the roots of the hair. If we want to make a moisturizing mask, we can spread oil on the roots. However, it needs thorough cleaning in the second year. In case of intense hair oiliness, it would be good to choose a creamy product, which is aimed at oily hair.
Also, another big mistake, which is often made, is daily bathing. It's about an enjoyable and relaxing habit. This spoils the ph of the hair and makes it greasy. Specialists in the field, dermatologists, advise to bathe once or twice per week.
Do you have oily hair? My best friend does and this tip help her a lot!
There are many manicure trends this summer and you have already adopted most of them. But there is one that has been making waves lately, and Hailey Bieber is the one responsible for it, since she adored it and won't part with it. Let's take the things from the beginning. It all started with Bieber's perfect complexion and especially with the natural glow on her face. In fact, she often makes sure to highlight it with wonderful photos on Instagram, mainly on the occasion of the launch of products from the series she created with which you can achieve the effect.

What is your favourite nail polish? I go glitter 2023!
From South Korea and with 108 million views - so far - on Tik Tok, blush nails are the manicure currently trending on social media, claiming a place in our hearts.
What are blush nails?
From their name alone, one can get a first idea about them. In essence, this is a trend that "mimics" the effect of blush on the cheeks - this natural, or even more intense depending on taste and makeup, flush on the face. The blush is the protagonist and is spread on the center of the nails with a make-up sponge or fine manicure brush, after a layer of transparent/milky/pale pink/nude polish has been applied over them. The final result is "sealed" with a top coat for extra shine and durability.
In the same sense that one can choose between dozens of shades of blush (red, pink, more peachy, etc.) in their make-up, they can also choose the blush to use in their manicure to achieve that cute, minimal, natural look with a twist effect on his nails.
Along with brushes, makeup sponges are the beauty tools that make makeup a breeze. Unless, of course, you are of the "only hands" school. The question in any case is are you using them correctly?
And while we have talked about makeup brushes several times, this time we will focus on sponges and on these mistakes that we often make without our knowledge. Below we have collected the 3 most important mistakes, but also how to correct them.
3 mistakes you make with makeup sponges
#1 You don't wash them properly and regularly
Would you ever touch a dirty and soiled garment to your face? Why do the same with your makeup brushes or sponges, which can not only irritate the skin but also cause various inflammations? And if not every day, at least every two days (this depends of course on how often you use them), you must remember to wash them. What you have to remember in any case is that water alone is not enough to clean properly and that is why you should use a non-allergenic soap (soap bar) or some other special cleaning product.
#2 You don't let the sponges dry properly
Yes, time is money, you may be in a hurry and therefore use your makeup sponges while they are still wet, but what you have to remember is that the bacteria are still there. It would be good to let them dry completely after washing and then use them.
#3 You only use it to apply foundation
Foundation may be the first thing that comes to mind when talking about cosmetics and make-up sponges, but what you should not forget is that with sponges you can also apply other products such as blush, concealer, cream eyeshadows and even to do contouring. Also, depending on their quality, makeup sponges can also be used even with setting powders.
Researchers have found that the UV rays used to dry nail polish can damage cellular and genetic material. It can also cause permanent mutations in human cells increasing the risk of skin cancer. However, an earlier scientific study published in JAMA Dermatology found that the level of UVA exposure in a manicure done every two weeks is probably not high enough to significantly increase the risk of skin cancer. In any case, it is good to know the new scientific data.
What the new research says about bunions in semi-permanent manicures
According to research findings published in the Nature Journal, long-term use of these UV lamps can cause skin cancer. The more we expose our skin to it, the more the risk increases.
Nail ovens used in semi-permanent manicures use a specific spectrum of UV light (340-395nm) to dry the chemicals used in gel manicures. Although tanning beds use a different spectrum of UV light (280-400nm) that studies have shown to be carcinogenic, the spectrum used in nail polish drying devices has not been studied enough.
Using 3 different cell lines, the researchers found that using these UV emitters for a single 20-minute session resulted in 20%-30% "cell death", while three consecutive 20-minute exposures caused 20% to die. 65% and 70% exposed cells. UV light exposure also caused mitochondrial and DNA damage in the remaining cells and led to mutations with patterns that can be seen in skin cancer.
What you can do to continue doing semi-permanent manicures safely
If this particular research has you worried about whether this means goodbye to your favorite beauty habit, scientists are here to reassure you by suggesting some ways you can avoid exposure to these harmful radiations.
Wearing sunscreen on your hands or feet is the best way to protect yourself from UV rays. A pair of cut-off disposable gloves (preferably white) during a manicure session can also significantly reduce the level of UV exposure used by nail polishers.
The researchers also point out that, while the results show the harmful effects of repeated use of these devices on human cells, a long-term epidemiological study will be required before it can be stated with certainty that the use of these devices leads to an increased risk of skin cancer.
A while ago we shared three cleansing balms - new entries on store shelves. This time, we have collected three practical tips that are worth knowing if you use them!
Choose the appropriate cleansing balm
Choosing the right cleansing balm formula is the first step to effective eye makeup removal in particular. Because make-up products mostly contain oil in their composition, a balm will generally remove them effectively, without leaving the skin with a pulling sensation.
Focus on the eyes and lips
Apply the cleansing balm to dry skin in small doses all over your face. Be sure to focus on the areas that have the most makeup, such as the eye and lip areas.
Get a massage
A step that many neglect is the massage. After applying the balm to your face, massage your skin in circular motions for about 30 seconds, then start adding a little water until the balm turns from an oil form into a soft emulsion or foam (this varies by product). Because the eye area is sensitive and removing mascara can be difficult, it's a good idea to be extra careful when rubbing the balm around your eye area. At the end, rinse your skin with plenty of water or remove with a wet cloth.
