Web browsing: How to distinguish secure websites
Margo Heard almost 3 years ago
There are many cases when citizens, in their attempt to find out the result of a match or to watch a match on the internet, have fallen victim to malware, have infected their devices with malware or have even lost money.

So how can we easily and simply identify a "suspicious" website and avoid it?

"Unknown" websites

The most prudent and practical thing we can do is to choose only reputable websites, which are trusted by thousands of other users and linked to well-known and recognized companies. For example, if we are interested in watching the score of a match live, we can now do it through Google, which offers similar services for all major events as well as individual matches. If we are still looking for websites for stoixima, we must turn to those that are affiliated with reputable companies and offer a secure navigation environment. If you are looking for a platform that offers match streaming services it is also wise to avoid "pirate" pages and turn to those that are legal and approved by the competent authorities.

With SSL certificate

Another smart way to make sure we have visited a secure website is the SSL certificate. This is the Secure Sockets Layer, an encryption certificate that ensures the protection of our personal data while we are on this website. It is very easy to find out if the website we have visited has this certificate, since the relevant url always starts with https in case this safety net is integrated. Most websites now have this type of certificate, however if we find ourselves on a site that does not have SSL it would be good to abandon it and prefer another one where there will be the relevant encryption of the information we receive and send as visitors.

Annoying Pop Ups

Certainly most websites now have a lot of ads, as these are a significant source of revenue. However, if we find ourselves on a site where every click is accompanied by dozens of annoying pop ups, popping up one behind the other, this should definitely make us think twice. Internet users can install an online tool such as the Pop up blocker offered by browsers like Chrome and prevent such websites from appearing, however we will still receive notification from our browser that the site we have visited has this type of pop ups that are ready to be activated. So it is good if we often visit websites with online score services or live streaming games to have a pop up blocker installed to make sure that such alerts do not appear, while in case we see "suspicious" signs it is more prudent and safe to leave the site and choose someone else.
