Ron DeSantis is an American politician and attorney who is currently serving as the 46th Governor of Florida. He was born on September 14, 1978, in Jacksonville, Florida. DeSantis is a member of the Republican Party and has been in office since January 8, 2019. Education and Early Career: Ron DeSantis attended Dunedin High School in Dunedin, Florida, and went on to graduate as valedictorian in 1997. He then earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Yale University, where he graduated magna cum laude in 2001. DeSantis went on to study law at Harvard Law School, where he received his Juris Doctor degree in 2005.
After completing his education, DeSantis served as a JAG officer in the U.S. Navy from 2005 to 2010, attaining the rank of lieutenant. During his military service, he was deployed to Iraq as an adviser to a U.S. Navy SEAL commander. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for his service in Iraq.
