In the age of MP3, downloading, and declining CD sales, vinyl is back!

Demand is growing rapidly and sales are up 60% this year (2008), according to an article by Rolling Stone.

Regardless of the debate about the quality or warmth of the sound, vinyl remains the most beautiful object on which music is imprinted. In this discussion, vinyl addicts can post information and photos from… well… vinyl.

Let me start this by saying how nice vinyl is. I love it, I like to see it, to caress it, I would sleep with them at night if they did not break so easily, but all this revival of vinyl has a key difference compared to its heyday.

Back then, being the main means of playing music, it was commonplace, now, most companies and shops have grasped the meaning that those who will buy now are (to a greater or lesser extent) collectors, have begun to "weigh them" mercilessly. It is not possible for the same album the cd and vinyl versions to have up to 10 euros difference, even if the vinyl comes in 17 different colors. You know how the market works. If there's hype, they charge more and more.

Personally, I find these "throw away the CDs, only vinyl is for real music lovers" a little too much. And, yes someone will come and tell me that vinyl has a warmer sound, etc. I won't disagree with you, but do not all tell me that you have 3000 euros audio systems to really understand the differences. But I really love the development called USB turntable!

So, anyone in here that has/owns vinyl or loves them? Perhaps few notable mentions of your vinyl? I'd love to read more from the community so this discussion is definitely under my radar!
